I have been trying to figure out why I like the American holiday Halloween so much, and still don’t have a definite answer. Maybe because it gives you an opportunity to experiment with strange decorations, or maybe because we all want to be frightened to an extent. Either way, it is almost Halloween here and my house is as decorated as it will be. More on that later 🙂
This post is about those decorations you can buy online. Each year, I do some research on the hottest trends in Halloween decorations and this year is no different. Here is my list of Top 10 Halloween Must Haves for 2022:

I don’t mind creating my own bat cutouts from black poster boards (here is a link to my post about making my own silhouettes), but this year I wanted to mix in “store-bought” ones. This set includes not only 3D bat stickers but also three crows and a giant spider. This is the cheapest item on this year’s list at only $13.99. I can’t wait for my order to arrive!
Last year I really liked the larger set of three hanging ghosts, but for this year I was looking for something simpler. This 12.3-foot tall hanging ghost is voice-activated and will make special sound effects to scare your visitors, while the mask lights up to add to the scare factor. Currently selling for $14.99 online, it will make a great addition to your outside decorations.
Now, this is a fun interior decoration! The pack includes four framed 3D moving portraits, sized 10.2 x 14.5 inches. View them from the front and all you see is a normal portrait. But change your position and you will find the horror version of the portrait hiding underneath. Hang them close together or space them out – you can decide! At $16.99, not a bad deal at all.
No Halloween is complete without some string lights. This set includes 300 purple LED lights and can be used inside or outside. String them over bushes, in trees or over any item you want to highlight inside. I will be adding mine to the entrance area of my front patio. You will get 98.5 feet of lights for $17.99.
Just like last year, I am including a giant spiderweb with a fake spider. This will make any house look spooky in no time. Besides the main web, the set also includes a gutter hook, ground stakes, additional spider web silk, and twenty small plastic spiders, allowing you to decorate to your heart’s desire. All of this for $23.99.
I’m not done with the hanging decorations. This year I’m including a creepy mummy decoration that is also sound-activated and has glowing eyes. Use inside or outside and scare those trick-or-treaters! Not a bad price of $28.99 for a 72-inch tall decoration.
Another life-size hanging decoration, this time of an animated witch. A bit more pricey at $37.00 but so much more detail in the piece. Not only does she move, but she has different phrases to scare your visitors. Do you also think she is pretty?
I had a similar zombie on last year’s list and thought I had to include one again this year. With long hair and glowing eyes, this zombie looks like it is crawling out from his grave. Add batteries and switch it on for a touch-activated scare that will crawl forward. Creepy!!! Not bad for $39.99.
Not an item I usually include, but some of you like to add inflatables to your decorations. This almost 9-foot-wide grim reaper will be an excellent choice to add to your outdoor decorations this year. The price of this durable and fade-resistant decoration is $59.99. Setup is easy and stakes and tethers are included.
We are working our way up to some more expensive decorations. I think we all need a life-size (5-foot tall) skeleton. The limbs and knees can lock into place to hold a position and the skeleton is made out of durable all-weather plastic. Can you see yourself creating a new pose every day? Yours for $84.99.
Last, but definitely not least, is the animatronic evil clown. This prop is almost 6 feet tall and oh-so scary-looking! It is sound and motion activated with red-flashing eyes, an evil grin and clawed hands that move. Once activated, it will make creepy twitching motions and sounds. Use indoors or outdoors in a covered spot. The clown is the most expensive item on my list this year at $99.99.
Go ahead and order your items as soon as possible! Halloween is around the corner and putting up your decorations is half the fun!
